The old pier in Sellin
Hanseatic Cities ... lively seaside resorts ... unspoiled nature ...

Did you know ...

Arkona Lighthouse ... that Arkona on Rügen boasts three lighthouses. One was build by the famous architect Schinkel (picture) and is now a nice location for weddings. Greifswalder Oie has the only one where the light turns left and the lighthouse of Bastorf is the highest of all sitting on quite a hill. The majority of our lighthouses is still in operation.
Smoke house Wismar... that Wismar had a record number of 182 breweries in the 16th century. The dark „Mumme“ beer was the main export good into Scandinavia. Today the micro brewery and traditional restaurant „Brau-haus am Lohberg“ carries on with the grand tradition. Try yourself...

Mecklenburg - Western Pomerania

Our region (a federal state in Northern Germany) Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers a wide variety of landscapes and historic sites to be discovered. We offer you knowledgable and entertaining guidance on your trip to the well known spots and secret hideaways in the area. The following destinations are available:

Doberan - Heiligendamm - Kühlungsborn

Along the coast west of Rostock lovely seaside resorts, beautiful tree-lined avenues and many attractions await you within a short distance from Rostock. Discover medieval splendor in the Abbey of Bad Doberan.Start a nostalgic journey on the steam train Molli. Visit the oldest baltic seaside resort and host of the G8 summit 2007 Heiligendamm and take a promenade along the beautiful beach promenade of Kühlungsborn. Some coffee and cake in one of the numerous cafés is surely not to be missed.

Wismar - Lübeck

Hanseatic architecture and history at its best can be found in the cities of Wismar and Lübeck - both listed as UNESCO World Heritage for their beautifully preserved medieval old towns. See the churches - scared by the war but carefully restored -, quaint gabled houses and impressing market squares. In addition Wismar is well known for its beer and harbour atmosphere and Lübeck for the legendary Marzipan candy. You can visit one of them or combine them on a full day trip.

Fischland-Darß-Zingst

This peninsula east of Rostock is a natural gem between the Baltic Sea and the lagoon "Bodden". Discover quaint traditional fishermans style villages with thatched homes, unspoilt coastal landscapes, e.g. in the national park "Western Pomeranian Lagoon Landscape", and lively seaside resorts with their piers and promenades. Indulge in the beauty of "the gold of the Baltic" - amber - in the museum and manufactury Ribnitz-Damgarten. Highlights are the artists colony of Ahrenshoop and the observation of cranes resting here on their journey to the south in september and october every year.

Islands Rügen & Usedom

The two largest islands of Germany offer natural beauty as well as historic and contemporary design in the resorts along the sea. Discover the white cliffs of Rügen in the national park "Jasmund", the lively atmosphere in the port of Sassnitz with the last professional fishermen on Rügen, the gigantism of the (never completed) Nazi holiday resort of Prora and the popular beach resort of Binz. A highlight of this trip is a drive through the avenues on the German Route of Avenues (from Rügen to the Bodensee in Southern Germany). Usedom is smaller but none the less fascinating. The elegant "Kaiser" resorts Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin offer a contineous promenade of about 10 miles, lined with hotels in seaside resort architecture and tempting cafés and restaurants - the beach always just a stone's throw away. The hinterland at the lagoon has many a charming village, unspoiled by mass tourism. Step back in history in Peenemünde, the cradle of rocket science. Both islands offer sights for a day trip and more.

Interior Mecklenburg

The countryside of Mecklenburg is dotted with lakes and covered by beautiful forests. You can either relax in an unspoilt natural environment or meet present and past in the towns and historic sites. The capital Schwerin is favored for its fairy tale palace and charming old town where as Güstrow offers a renaissance chateau and an imposing cathedral with art work by Ernst Barlach. Open-Air-Museums give insight into the history of the country and the lifestyle. Many events through the year attract visitors from near and far. You can enjoy some light activity on bicycle tours or boat trips in the lake district or take a tour of some of the recently renovated manors and residences that Mecklenburg is well known for and get to know the ever-changing rural (feudal) history.
