Where does the name “SiebenSegel” come from?
Sieben (seven) is something like a lucky number for Rostock. It goes back to an old poem, which stated, that there are seven steeples on top of our town hall, seven streets leading to the market square, seven gates towards the countryside, seven bells ringing daily, seven…. There are many things that mysteriously add up to seven, so there seems to be some symbolic meaning to it. Segel (sails) relates to the fact that there is water all around here in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. You will find boats in all shapes and sizes. Sailing vessels, yachts, canoes…Come and visit us and explore the maritime flair yourself.
